Title: Parenthetical
Fandom: BBM
Rating: G
Summary: Drabble. Jack writes a letter to his mother.
Word Count: 168

Dear Ma,

Everyone here is fine. Bobby got his first B in English in the high school. He wants to go out for track in the spring. Lureen is real fine. Her mother is doing fine even though her daddy passed about a year ago. She and Lureen spend more time together now, which also means they spend more money. But they have their share between them so it doesn't matter.

The stable where Lureen rides at closed down. I rode her horse on occasion, but she was real motherly about him. She had to sell him because the next closest boarding stable is too far to her. I guess it was rough on her. Now I have no place to ride, but I didn't much before (except with that friend of mine when I go camping up your way). Been real busy at work and with Bobby. He wants to start up a lawnmowing business with a friend of his.

You take care and give my regards to dad.

Jack Twist

Really quick reader question: Is it worth it/important to post even drabbles like this to brokebackslash? I find that most people are not interested in canon drabbles these days, and there are members there I would rather not accidentally encounter. But if you all wish I did/would/had, that would be reason enough. Let me know what works for you.

Hey, Jess,

I track posts to your journal, so I'll get a notification whether or not you post on BBS.

How do you accidentally encounter people when you post on BBS? I'm not quite following you on that one?

Oh boy. I don't want to re-open bad fandom political situations. I guess, long story short, the community has some members who have been outspoken about not wanting me there, and I find that not being there makes them less outspoken, which, you know, it's not as if this is real land we're talking about, it's an internet comm, so I don't need the headache of an out-and-out turf war. I haven't had any trouble in a good while, though, so I'm hoping they have moved on to someone else.

Nice drabble. I get them on my friends page, so it doesn't matter to me if you post to BBS or not. Carole

Same here, Jess. I like reading drabbles, but as I get yours on my flist I don't need you to post them on BBMSlash. I think you should do what you think best.

BTW, I liked it. It makes me want to cry for Jack--his wife and mother are fine, and Bobby is fine, but Jack isn't; he can only do what he loves when he's with that friend he goes camping with. Such a tiny measure of love and attention for someone who never had enough.

i found a link to this on dc forum author update; i think i miss some of your things, but i seem to miss a lot these days, and i'm not very tech savvy. i will read your bbm stuff wherever i find it. if it's not on brokebackslash, i'll surely run across it somewhere, and i hate to think you would waste energy on baloney that you could spend on writing your wonderful stuff,

You could write something on a napkin and pin it to a bulletin board somewhere and I'd track it down and read it. But you're on my flist so luckily I don't have to go through all that trouble. Don't waste your time on stupid people. Keep writing for us good ones. :)
