Stretch to Fit
Title: Stretch to Fit
Summary: Short original poem.

Stretch to Fit

And the words I want
Are scattered through the various languages
Hidden under the dust of other lands,
  Buried in avalanches.

In the moonlight, it...
  It means nothing, not--
  Not a thing at all
If it only speaks to me, and I can't share it.

The past is a dead time. Nothing can
Bring it back. The sun cannot rise
From the West,
No more than the moon can shine darkness.

I laugh because it is
My only choice, my only

I laugh and try to blow a smoke ring with my breath.
I laugh and imagine that this is what matters, matters most.

What I need, I just don't have.
But this, I do.
I'll make it stretch to fit, I will.
In fact-- in fact, I must.

This is lovely, Jess
I particularly like your first and last stanzas. I'm not sure, though, what 'it' is that the speaker has: this poem? A feeling or state of being she longs to express? I feel as if the poem started in one place and went somewhere else, and somehow I missed a turn in the road.

I hope you are feeling better and that your trip home was not too nightmarish. (((Jess)))

I don't know what happened in the BBM fandom to make you sad, but I'm sorry you got hurt. I hope you will stay and write in the Brokeback universe, because I love your stories.

Could you please friend me?
