The best thing about this tour was that they decided to play songs off each of their albums. For a while before this they toured primarily their new material, but around this time (early 80's), Queen started doing multi-album concerts. In fact, they said they wanted to make sure to get every album onto every concert. Freddie said he just loved practicing the old material. Well, I certainly love hearing it as well.

The concert also includes such necessities as the Brian May guitar solo of absolute doom. It hasn't changed much over the years, but that's rather its charm. The thunder-effects concert beginning, Freddie telling the band to fuck off and then they all start giggling, Roger lusting after his car, Freddie asking the audience to strip-- it's all here. It's all here.

'Course, this is just the CD. You'll want to be buying the DVD. Because it's Queen. They're one of the-- if not the-- first music groups to recognize the role visual effects has in rock concerts. They are ACDC's "let there be lights". Queen also has lots of videos of this concert on their official youtube channel, which is linked above in the sample.

You have no idea how much I love you for this right now. I'm not a huge fan of live albums usually, or I just don't really *get* them, but this? WOW. I've just listened to part 1 and feel like rocking through the house and like crying because I wasn't there and it's so overwhelming at the same time, and this is SO. FUCKIN. AWESOME.
(Yes, I want to buy the dvd.)
